hey youtube
so once again i'm coming at you with a
problem solving video and the problem
that we're solving for today
is one that i see um reported on various
forums and whatnot talking about
how the sound coming from
either the radio or
sirius xm versus
the sound level coming from a connected
device
either an apple device or an
android device hooked up via you know
the cable
or even bluetooth for that matter and
connected
uh using carplay or android
you know using the android system which
i don't have so i'm not familiar with
that but the
the problems are the same
i get a different sound volume level
coming from either the radio or
from sirius than i do from my connected
device and the connected device
is for whatever reason always
significantly
lower and this can drive you absolutely
batshit insane well i figured it out
and it's a very easy fix so instead of
going down the rabbit hole
assuming that it's something to do with
your head unit it's something to do
with uconnect uh or whatever other
system that you have
inside your vehicle whatever the
software is running that system
just stop just stop let's let's go back
and do some basic troubleshooting
which should hopefully resolve most of
everyone's problems
i'm not saying that there aren't some
problems with certain head units i'm not
saying
that some software could not be
corrupted either from a bad download of
a
an over-the-air update or whatnot what
i'm saying is that
this issue right here crept up on me
and not even know that it happened all
right
so with that here's what you want to do
let's open up our device and especially
for an apple device
you're going to go to settings and from
here let me just back out so you can
kind of see where we need to go
from settings once you open up settings
you're going to go
down to music
and from here you got to scroll and this
is what you're
looking for do you see where it says
sound check
see how it's toggled on right now see
how that green
button right there it's toggled on okay
here's what soundcheck does soundcheck
checks the id3 tag of all of your
music and it tells it
how loud to play it the reason why they
have this function in there is so
that let's say you're listening to you
know maybe some
type of an acoustic ballad obviously you
probably want to have that turned up
because you want to be able to hear
everything right
okay then you're going to jump to
something like this like a real
hardcore heavy metal song which is going
to blast your ears because you turned up
the volume so loud
now you're being shocked and you got
road rage driving down the road
okay that's the reason why
sound check exists but here's the deal
it lowers the volume of your music
and if you're if you don't know about
this option
you can go down the rabbit hole just
like me
just like everybody in their freaking
brother has done online
trying to find the cause of this issue
it's just that it's just
sound check all right so let's listen to
the difference here
all right let's uh cue this bad boy up
and you're gonna hear a difference
let's check the volume level so that's
at 14 right there and you can hear it
right so that's
volume 14. now watch what i'm going to
do i'm going to hit that sound check i'm
going to take it off
now listen to it that's where the volume
is really supposed to be
once again we'll turn it back on
i'm going to hit play
hear that and for me i listen to heavy
metal and i'm like wondering
why is my music so low but when i go to
something like serious
do you know how loud that is that's like
the normal volume like
what is going on here why is it that
when i go from sirius
over to you know here
listen to that
see now i turn sound check off
hear the difference there you go
[Music]
so hopefully this uh short little video
can help
those of you that have been struggling
to find why
your music plays at a different volume
coming from your device
when connected either via bluetooth or
via
your usb cord into a usb
uh
into a into the usb connection on your
uh vehicle
why that would be different
check here go here
sound check turn it off
later
