hey there guys what's going on it's
chris and i'm back doing more fish tank
related videos i know you guys are
getting sick of these right no i'm
kidding um today's video is on the top
reasons why goldfish die
so i'm the admin over at goldfish
keepers we are the largest goldfish
facebook group actually i'm the owner it
doesn't matter but uh uh one of the we
we see this post
people are kind of breaking down and
asking for help hey man why did my
aquarium goldfish die
and today i kind of want to do a deep
dive into
the reasons why your goldfish may have
died first of all i want to say sorry
for your loss it really does suck losing
a fish in this hobby um this is my
goldfish tank over here it's a six foot
long 125 gallon
as you guys can see my house is full of
fish tanks so
we have over 50 tanks here in the house
i like to do a bunch of podcasting over
here
um
as you can see this is my little office
there's a cool rack over here full of
tanks but yeah guys um goldfish die and
it sucks
so as i was saying over here is my six
foot long 125 gallon goldfish aquarium
and the reason the goldfish are in the
biggest tank in the house right now well
the biggest aquarium
is because goldfish need a lot of space
and a lot of people screw this up
one of the most common reasons goldfish
die on people is because the aquarium is
too small and it's not necessarily
because the aquarium doesn't have enough
room for the fish to swim but it's more
or less due to the fact that the water
parameters
get very bad very quickly so what
happens is you know if we come over here
this is a little three gallon aquarium
and you know if a fish dies in here the
water parameters are going to go bad
faster because there's less water volume
than this bigger tank so it only makes
sense and what happens is essentially
you kind of poison the fish with the
with it's called nitrate poison or
ammonia poisoning and
if a fish dies or just gives off too
much ammonia
sorry somebody rang the doorbell with
some crazy person knocking on my door
it's the middle of the night like what's
he even thinking so yeah as i was saying
um goldfish do get poisoned by nitrates
in the water and also ammonia because
what happens is
if something
something goes wrong in these water
parameters the ammonia or nitrates just
essentially poison the fish and burn
their skin from the outside in it's
really crazy
and
another reason goldfish die is due to
stress
let's go back over to the goldfish tank
a rule of thumb when keeping aquarium
goldfish is there's sort of two
different types of goldfish we have
single tail goldfish and we have double
tail goldfish and this tank here mostly
has single tail goldfish and what
happens is the single tail goldfish like
him right there he has one single tail
what happens is they're a faster
swimming goldfish and they have a lot
more energy they can get around a lot
easier than a double tailed fancy
goldfish like this that's a double tail
there in the corner
see he has two tails it's kind of split
and what happens is
the double tailed goldfish can't swim as
fast and they can't get to the food as
fast and they just have more stress
because the single tails have more
energy they can get to the food they're
more ravenous what happens is they
stress each other out you're you're
technically or said to of not keep fancy
tails with single tails but it happens
anyways because
it's just inevitable i had people bring
over fish
and i had to throw them in here i wasn't
planning on keeping double tail a single
tail goldfish but it happened and they
just they just get stressed out and also
other aquarium fish can stress them out
e
as well so like this case right here
this 55 gallon aquarium right here if we
were to keep goldfish with some of these
crazy or like schooling fish like
rainbows or some of these giant danios
it would just stress them out and
the cats are doing something
who's in here
we have four cats and they're always up
to no good
sorry about that
so yeah guys uh
the number one reason is going to be
water poisoning you know something
ammonia
what in the dickens hey i'm trying to do
a video over here
what is that a bottle cap
come on hey give me that how'd you get
beer anyways kitties aren't supposed to
drink beer
so yeah guys it's really unfortunate
that the goldfish die um like i was
saying the water poisoning is really
common uh stress is another one it's
also super common for goldfish to have
like parasites and what's really common
is gill flukes
um you know there's some really common
treatments that people are using to
treat goldfish
and uh you can hit up goldfish keepers
the facebook group we have a bunch of
different files in there where you can
look that up highly advise it that you
start treating your goldfish
because they do have sicknesses that
kind of just like their underlying
sicknesses that kind of wait to come out
after some time and then the fish all of
a sudden die you know i had a top seller
actually send me some really fancy uh
i think they were like ryuk and oranda
goldfish for free and they were like a
hundred dollars a piece they were super
cool goldfish and what happened was like
two weeks into it all of them started
dying
and it was just like it was a sickness
that i had no idea about so
but yeah guys without further ado hit up
the comment section let me know if you
lost your goldfish i know it kind of
sucks but uh
it is what it is i always tell people
not to give up in this hobby because
chances are that it was probably
something that can be like that's not
your fault or maybe you can learn a
lesson you can also keep fish moving
towards the future that's how you have
tanks that look this cool you know this
is this didn't happen overnight this
came from years of failing and kind of
just learning lessons and getting better
at fish keeping treating fish just all
of
etc so
yeah let me know in the comment section
why you think your goldfish died i would
love to hear from you guys that's why i
do these videos it's kind of just a
quick helpful little educational video
that i can share when people ask this
alright guys
