hi lou manfredini aces home expert if
your carbon monoxide detector or smoke
detector has a blinking light we're
going to show you what that means
[Music]
i'm here with pat who's a 20-year
veteran of the fire department pat
carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are
an essential safety device for the home
some of them have lights on them and i
know that depending on the manufacturer
those lights can be a good thing and can
be a bad thing
typically what we see is like you said
different manufacturers have different
colors
and usually as long as it's flashing
it's just telling you that it's powered
up and it's working right um
if it starts if there's an issue
it starts to make noise right if the
battery's low it'll chirp
but you know by chirping i mean it'll be
one once one sound like almost like a
bird chirp about every 30 seconds or so
and impossible to figure out which one
it is yes yes
uh if you're still having problems
i would advise replacing it the
technology changes so much and anytime
within five to seven years it's a
relatively inexpensive item right just
go ahead and replace it absolutely good
advice
and that's it if you'd like more
