hey guys chris here and welcome back to
the fedex blogs let's just get straight
to the point and answer one of the most
common questions i get on my instagram
and that is the tracking on my package
has stopped moving what gives what
happened did someone steal my package
did my package get lost what do i do now
in this video i'm gonna answer your
question to what happened to your
package so let's jump right in man all
day has been raining
very sad day for me but i got my rain
jacket
and i'm somewhat dry i feel dry so
that's good so as many of you know i am
a fedex driver
if you couldn't tell
i also want to start off by saying that
i don't know all the answers i'm just
giving you my perspective as a driver
and what i see on a day-to-day basis
i've also worked at amazon ups so you
can say that i've been around the block
we're going to talk about um fedex
tracking mostly and the operations at
ups and fedex are pretty much similar so
you can take the aspects i talk about
fedex and put it into ups so let's start
the process in fx it all starts off when
packages picked up or drop off at a
fedex location think like a fedex office
or if you schedule a pickup let's use
adidas shoes for example when you place
an order on adia's website for um i
don't know the ultra boost you can
expect adidas to fulfill that order
within that day or the next and after
that they probably most likely have a
schedule pick up to pick up all the
shoes or they drop it off themselves at
a location and when i finish for the day
and go back to the terminal the package
will be scanned again by package
handlers so if you go on the website and
check the website when it says arrive
that effects facility
that's when the package chandler scanned
it and once that package is scanned it
goes on a bunch of conveyor belts to the
right trailer and once it hits that
trailer i believe it's scanned again
this is where you get that notification
where it says it's departed the fex
facility and once it's on the fedex
trailer it'll go to another facility and
that cycle arriving and the parking
starts all over again until it gets to
the last warehouse and once it gets to
the last warehouse it comes down the
belt
and a package handler will scan
that package into my truck and this is
where that notification comes in where
it says it's on the fedex vehicle
ready for delivery or alpha delivery
something like that this usually happens
around uh the night shift probably like
in the a.m like three four five a.m and
after that your package will always say
that your package will arrive probably
before 8 8 pm or something like that
something late in the day it's probably
much earlier we want you to have low
expectations of us so you're thinking oh
the package will come at 8 pm but when
you get your package at 1 pm 12 p.m 9
a.m you're like whoa these guys are
awesome
so we want to undersell and over deliver
but now what happens to my package when
i don't get these updates here at fedex
you probably move like 15 000 packages a
night and i would say like 98 to 99 of
the packages are scanned which leaves us
with that one percent of packages that
weren't scanned and that leaves us with
150 packages not scanned so
congratulations you're part of that one
percent here are some situations that
may have happened to your package
and what you should do about it number
one your package is lost in the process
was it a small package because some of
these warehouses are really big going
through all these conveyor belts
sometimes they can get stuck on the
conveyor belt fall off the conveyor belt
go to a place where no one can get to or
forgotten about maybe it slipped through
the crevices of the floor maybe someone
placed it somewhere and totally forgot
about it speaking from experience i had
a package stuck in one of my shelves it
was in there for three months because i
never opened the shell here let me go
show you
okay so i was doing the bulk truck and
the bulk truck usually doesn't have
these shelves up they're usually closed
like this
like that and for three months there was
a package hidden in here
and no one scanned it totally forgotten
about
no one even thought about opening that
shelf or sometimes drivers they put
pickups like somewhere in here
maybe back there
maybe there's a package under his jacket
and then we totally forget about it and
then um it's just it just sits there for
weeks so yeah packages get lost all the
time when you're doing thousands of
packages a night there's at least one
bound to get lost number two stolen by
package handlers or drivers a lot of
people might jump to a conclusion that
maybe you ordered something expensive
you can see why someone would want to
steal it here at my fedex location the
security is pretty tight we have metal
detectors and guards that go through our
bags and package handlers they're not
even allowed to have their phones with
them they have to leave it outside in
their car or they have lockers right
outside the security gate while i think
stealing is very unlikely to happen
who's to say that the package chandler
didn't see an adidas box on the belt
took the box with him to the bathroom
put the shoes on his feet got rid of his
old shoes through him in the garbage and
now he's walking out with 800 shoes like
i said there's security there are
cameras everywhere so if something were
to happen they'll know unlikely but it
can still happen number three did your
tracking stop when it said it's in the
fedex video and out for delivery i hate
to say this but sometimes there are a
lot of reasons why some patches are on
my scanner but i can't scan them for
example the package is not in my truck
and it was left at the warehouse
and i can't scan it i just happen to
missed it in the morning another reason
why you probably wouldn't get an update
is the package had no barcode
okay this happened actually yesterday
where it only had the little sticker to
tell me what the address was but there
was no barcode to scan on the box i
guess it got ripped
or maybe
a lot of thing a lot of times what
happens is it gets dirty and then or
scratched or ripped partially ripped off
and the barcode doesn't work anymore
what i think most drivers do is they
just keep in the truck for tomorrow and
then effects will provide another code
like a relabel another thing that might
happen is the package fell off the truck
i've seen a lot of tick tocks where like
they're recording a fedex truck and then
they have their side door open or they
forgot they had the back door open and
they're driving down the highway with
the back door open and the package falls
right out and the driver doesn't notice
but you know the driver doesn't want to
get fired so you know
keeps it quiet but yeah sometimes we're
you know we're focused on the road and
we have some doors open
and we totally forget to close them and
packages fall out and and we just move
on
maybe they took a turn too fast and the
package fell off right outside the truck
so yeah your package probably lost
somewhere in the neighborhood on the
streets it'll probably never be scanned
again and it'll always stay out for
delivery unfortunately
i would say if your package wasn't
scanned in one or two days i would give
it a third day just to make sure
but after three plus days with no
updates on your tracking
i would definitely give fedex a call and
see what they can do about it what
happens after that i have no idea that's
something um you guys are gonna have to
figure out i apologize and hopefully you
get your package but i think most of the
time um they're going to tell you to
call the shipper or call the company and
they'll probably send you another one
but yeah give them a call see what's up
i'll put some sort of claim for you and
there are many reasons why a package
isn't scanned if you scan the wrong
barcode because there's multiple
barcodes if someone's not paying
attention they might actually scan the
wrong one and those are some reasons why
your tracking on your package has
stopped moving alright guys we're done

uh i haven't gotten lunch yet so we're
gonna get some lunch i'm thinking um

you guys probably noticed that i don't
wear glasses anymore see that i look
like a totally different guy
probably not totally different to you
but to me when i look in the mirror i'm
like whoa
i don't even recognize myself
so long story short i did get lasik
what happened was i was doing a delivery
in my town okay
and i delivered to a lasik place you
know basically is uh the laser eye
surgery and i got talking to the person
at the counter and she's like oh yeah in
the month of april which was last month
we're doing a thousand dollars off so
i was like whoa really wow
because every time i deliver there i
always thought about getting lasik
because
a lot of people will tell you that um
lasik was probably the best decision in
their lives
and
probably not the best but it's
definitely up there again like a lot of
people were telling me that and then the
review said that and like
you know if someone if that many people
are saying it like how can you not
believe them you know so that's all it
took i was like yo
give me the fedex discount
i think they gave me like five percent
off but you know
and that's also one of the perks of
being a delivery driver you know if
you're nice to the people
you're delivering to
you can definitely get some favors in
favors and discounts if you never try
you'll never know but yeah i i like to
joke around just like yo that's discount
to all the things i want and sometimes
they have them sometimes they don't but
never hurts to ask but yeah let's go get
something to eat hungry

a lot of tennis lately
just enjoying my time outside
and not sitting inside
making videos which uh may explain my
lack of videos but yeah i think i'm
