every single time issues like this start
happening where the dog seems like
they've regressed you have to basically
regress with them so the first thing
that comes to my mind is that this dog
no matter how old the dog is if these
accidents are starting to happen he's
getting too much freedom so you need to
go backwards a little bit and set the
boundaries and limit so I don't know if
you crate trained him from the start
if you did you should go back to the
crate if you don't want to use a crate
you should gate off the kitchen some
kind of place like that to have a
control area where you can guarantee no
accidents this happens with a lot of
dogs and it's something I've been
stressing to my clients so much lately
that a lot of people see this kind of
behavior and they're like okay this is
something he's just gonna grow out of
it's not if you keep letting this
behavior go on and let him take
advantage of the freedom that he has
you're gonna have a five-year-old dog
who's still having accidents around the
house so first thing limit his freedom a
little bit more if he's not telling you
when to go out he's not ready for that
freedom yet so I would continuously
definitely do the bells when you guys
are going out the door but you're just
gonna have to be on top of him a little
bit more every single time and this goes
for anybody who's like going to make a
move or anything you should expect to
take steps backwards when you first move
so you shouldn't expect to leave off
where the dog left off every single
foster dog that I get here no matter
what age the first few days I am on top
of that dog like the dog is an eight
week old puppy like okay every twenty
minutes outside outside just be
proactive and prevent the accidents
because that's the best way to potty
train once you get to the point where
there's no accidents because you have it
so controlled then you can start to give
more and more freedom that is something
that's so huge that works with every
single behavioral issue so what most
people don't do is get to that 100% no
accident point and that's gonna happen
because you're not even letting it
happen this goes for like any kind of
behavioral issue get to the point where
your dog isn't snapping at other dogs
beak
is you're not even letting your dog go
up to another dog you have it so
controlled once that that happens then
you can start gradually giving more and
more freedom
