I have a car that is running a little
bit cold and I'm concerned
it's not
looking at a temperature gauge and it's
it should be around halfway and it's
only around 40% something's in my mind
something's not right should be right in
the middle so what I've done is I've
plugged in what's called a code reader
and it also has a data function and I'm
measuring the temperature of the engine
you can see the engine temperature
running down the freeway and you have to
do it while you're going down the
freeway so that there's air blowing
through the radiator it's only 169
degrees which is unacceptable that car
normal operating temperature is 185
degrees and that's what the computer
system is looking for that's what the
car is designed to run at and so it
needs to be fixed every car built after
1996 can use this code reader so what
controls the temperature is this device
it's called a thermostat and I bought
this one at a Toyota dealership this is
a Toyota Sienna I think that this is
such a critical device it's best to buy
the best brand the best money can buy
and in my opinion that's buying it from
the dealership so I'm gonna put this in
and it should solve the problem because
this is the only thing really that
controls the evening out of the
temperature the coolant the radiator
cools the coolant and this opens and
closes to let it cool it more or less
and even out the temperature to exactly
185 degrees
