moving a new budgie to your home
can lead to various behaviors you might
have not expected
i've gathered some information of what
to expect the first few days with your
new budgie
as your budgie moves to a new
environment your home
it leaves his family and friends behind
and moves entirely on its own to
a new unfamiliar place this move is very
stressful for them
and will make them behave unusual
the first thing you might notice from
your new budgie is that it's not moving
from its perch and remains on the same
spot for hours
this is completely normal for a new
budgie as it's examining the unfamiliar
place he just moved to
on the first three days do not touch
your beard
don't try to make it perch or get too
close to it
and don't make any sharp moves that can
scare it
let your budgie relax and get used to
its new home
the next thing you might notice is that
your new budgie is not eating or
drinking on the first day or even two
this is also normal behavior and your
budgie will start eating and drinking
once it settles down
make sure however that their food and
water is in reach and your new budgie
can easily see it

the same thing can be said about toys if
your budgie doesn't seem interested in
its toys for even a week later
this is also normal behavior
[Music]
some budgies especially young ones can
spend their first few days on the bottom
of the cage
without moving too much this can also be
considered normal behavior
they do this because they feel safer
this way
[Music]
on the first three days the best way to
start bonding with your budgie without
bothering it
is to talk to it with a soft voice so it
begins to get used to you
after you let your new budgie adjust to
its surroundings you can start a timing
process
enter your hand to its cage very calmly
and place your finger over one of the
perches that are farther from your
barricade
don't move your hand for five minutes
repeat this process for about a week
or until you start noticing that your
budgie is more relaxed while you do so
then you can start moving your finger
closer to your budgie
if your budgie is moving away it's okay
just keep on
but don't chase it your budgie will
slowly get used to your hand
and you can start teaming it to create
your finger
you can check out this video i made that
shows how to teach your bear to step
up
[Music]
as your new budgie starts to get used to
its new home
they will begin chirping climbing around
the cage finding out where the food and
dishes are
and investigating new toys
