you mentioned that your ten month old
baby girl seems to grind her teeth at
night and this is actually pretty normal
many babies do it especially when
they're teething because it alleviates
pressure when they grit their teeth and
put extra pressure on sore and tender
areas in their mouths and some kids just
do it as they get a little bit older
like preschool age and even early
school-age years when they get stressed
and most kids outgrow this but if you're
concerned about it talk with your
dentist and they can decide if anything
needs to be done about it in fact the
American Academy of Pediatrics
recommends that a child see a dentist
for the first time around their first
birthday
this is a good opportunity for you to
ask questions like the one you have and
also for a dentist to teach a parent how
to properly care for their child's teeth
if your daughter is still grinding her
teeth when she gets older and it's
causing problems the dentist may
recommend a night guard but generally
speaking it's a part of normal
development and it's really not anything
we can we can prevent from happening and
she should outgrow it over time if you
have any other questions for me in the
