all right so this is a troubleshoot
video
on how to take care of the arlos
in the event that they appear offline so
here's an example
of our kitchen camera and living room
camera
that you get the error message says that
your arlo device appears to be offline
most of the time um it
is because the arlo home base
is no longer connected to the internet
the way to check that
is when you look at it this middle
color here that is for the internet
as you can see it's not green so that's
bad
so um first things first
that you'll want to do is you want to
check
and see the connectivity um
with the internet so this is the cable
it's connected right here to the
um modem and
or the router or whatever it is and you
just want to connect
it to one of the ports back here so
just pick whichever one of the ports
don't pick the phone jack because it
just doesn't work
use one of these uh up you know top two
take the other side connected to the lan
in the back of the arlo home base
stick it in and then
we'll see if it connects
give it a second um
most often than not though you'll
probably have to reset the whole
uh modem or not the modem i'm sorry the
home base for the arlo
home base so since nothing is popping up
what we're gonna do
is i'm gonna turn the home base off
and then i'll restart it so how to do
that
there's a on and off switch back here
it's just a little button
you just go ahead and press that do the
whole like
you know turn it off turn it back on
again kind of thing
make sure that my lan is connected
everything's all plugged in so now i'm
going to
turn it back on
let's give it a second while it boots up
so if this doesn't work what you have to
do is you have to completely take
the arlo home base offline
and give it give it basically like a
factory reset
and then re-add it back in
to your app as if it's a brand new
home base so give it a few minutes
this whole process takes a while and it
can be kind of frustrating
but uh yeah
all right so we got a green for the
cameras
but again that doesn't really mean
anything what we want
is the middle color to turn green
uh ideally you want all three all three
colors to be green
so all right
so we're getting connection with the
internet
so that's good
um
now we're just waiting for it to connect
to the cameras
so i'm just going to pull up my app
again here to see if we're
getting connection and it kind of looks
like we are
looks like we're getting some loading
all right perfect
so now we're officially back online um
if i was to press the cameras here i'll
get connection
and as you can see now i'm able to see
the cameras
uh online the doorbell doesn't work this
way
it works a little bit different um
i think the doorbell just operates off
of the wi-fi
by itself which is why when the arlo
base station goes down
the doorbell isn't affected so it's kind
of a good thing but
it's separated which could be bad
but it's good in a situation like this
because
the doorbell is unaffected uh
in the event that what i just did
doesn't work
you'll need to take this offline and
reset it
so one of the ways to do that is
there's a reset little tiny hole in here
you just get the uh like a paper clip
and you just hold that down and
you know well first of all you want to
like reset it and then unplug everything
so that gives it a factory reset
which means that it will no longer be
connected to any of the cameras
in that case um what would happen is
on the app itself you'll have to go to
down here where it says add new
device and then you would click
base station hub and then
just follow the step-by-step
instructions that the app tells you
on how to reinstall your arlo base
station
another side effect of this is that you
lose the cameras
itself so you so when we go back here
like the living room camera and the
kitchen camera
they're not going to pop up on the app
so you'll need to
re-integrate them

into the base station and the app itself
same process though you would just come
down here to add new device
and you would go to cameras and you go
to
essential and you go to essential camera
and then you go through this process the
app kind of helps you go through
on how to connect the cameras back into
the app
and the arlo base station and that's
what you do
in the event of
the troubleshooting of no connection to
the cameras anymore
another side effect of this is if you
let the camera
batteries die uh you lose connection
and you have to go through this manual
setup which can be very frustrating so
don't let the camera batteries die
and i'll show you in the next video how

charge the camera batteries
